My name is Matt Kemp, I hope you enjoy reading my fishing diary. Just some short accounts of fishing on my local rivers (usually the Derbyshire Derwent or the Trent). I try to keep this diary updated as often as possible, and I do go fishing quite often. If its not been updated it probably means I've not been fishing.

27/02 Derwent
Rivers back up by 2 or 3 foot again...and not very warm. One bite in 3 hours fishing. Not a bad result for me this season.

20/02 Derwent
A return to my good area for perch fishing from last season. Another blank though. My excuse is that I had to leave early, water was too cold, too coloured, I was wearing the wrong hat etc etc.

14/02 Derwent
Ended up in my 3rd choice of venues. No fish, no bites, packed up early, no confidence.
In hindsight wish I'd fished one of my 1st choice venues.

13/02 Derwent
Different swim and tactics on the same stretch as Weds. Didn't work. Tried fishing slightly further out under a tree rather than close in next to a bush. Had to fish 'til 6:20pm for a 2lb chub.
At least it wasn't a blank, and I enjoyed the footy on the radio.

10/02 Derwent
A change of venues and ended up catching a change of species. Don't think I've caught a trout since the last one I had from this stretch a few years ago. This was definately a different fish as it was a bit smaller. And I ate the last one.
Was actually after perch and did miss a couple of bites on floatfished worm. Have got a plan and a different swim in mind for when I return there. Just hope the weather doesn't deteriorate too much.

03/02 Trent
Wanted another go at the Derwent perch but river conditions dictated otherwise, drove to the Trent hoping for lower, clearer water...
Ended up siting under my brolly in the rain/ sleet/ snow barbel fishing for a couple of hours with a predictable result
