1st chance to fish for perch for a while, conditions having picked up a bit. An OK day in that 3 different species were caught, unfortunately all a bit on the small side...but at least I caught and had a few bites. Started with a small pike on worm
Followed by a small perch on worm (well maybe not that small, may even have made 2lb as it was quite rotund)
And a small zander, not on worm
My name is Matt Kemp, I hope you enjoy reading my fishing diary. Just some short accounts of fishing on my local rivers (usually the Derbyshire Derwent or the Trent). I try to keep this diary updated as often as possible, and I do go fishing quite often. If its not been updated it probably means I've not been fishing.

01/02 Trent
Having walked past this swim numerous times, as good as it looks I've always dismissed it as being too narrow, too snaggy looking. Gave it a go tonight and it wasnt too bad. I'd been sat down for approx 5 mins when I got my first bite, a zander of about 5lb
20 mins later and a bite on the same rod, and a really deep one of 9lb 15oz. Quite close to my target weight of 10lbs...
Missed one on the other rod as I rebaited then missed another on the same rod before the good rod indicated a fish and duly hooked up. 9lb 8oz
Quite a frantic hour and a half...things returned to normal after that, only one really tentative bite at packing up time.
